Human Rights Help is an independent, non‑lawyer support service based in Alberta. We provide information and administrative assistance with Alberta Human Rights processes. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice or representation.
Purposes for collection
We collect personal information from you only for the following purposes:
- to respond to your inquiries and assess whether non‑legal, clerical support is a fit;
- to schedule work and coordinate tasks and timelines that you approve;
- to prepare documents from your instructions and organize materials you provide;
- to maintain basic administrative records (e.g., invoices, communications) as required for business operations.
When we collect information (e.g., via email), we rely on these purposes. If a new purpose arises, we will seek your consent first.
Personal information we collect
- Contact details you choose to send (name, email, phone).
- Case logistics you share for scheduling and document preparation (dates, milestones, non‑sensitive context).
How we use it
- To respond to your inquiry and provide the support you request.
- To schedule work and manage tasks and timelines you approve.
What we do not collect
- No analytics cookies by default.
- No sale of personal information, ever.
Storage & security (reasonable safeguards)
We use reasonable measures to protect personal information, including password protection, role‑based access, encryption in transit (HTTPS), and reputable cloud providers. Access is limited to the operator and only on a need‑to‑know basis.
Retention & destruction
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes above, then delete or de‑identify it. You can request deletion sooner, subject to legal or operational requirements (e.g., billing records).
International data transfers
Some service providers we use may store or process information in Canada and/or the United States. If you have questions about locations or vendors, contact us at contact@humanrightshelp.ca. We will update this notice if storage locations change materially.
Your rights (access, correction, deletion)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by emailing contact@humanrightshelp.ca. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Breach notification
If there is a privacy breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify Alberta’s OIPC without unreasonable delay and, where required, affected individuals.
